HTC Sensation on Telstra now receiving Ice Cream Sandwich, Sense 3.6 update

All delays aside, the Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Sensation on Telstra is now well and truly here. We’ve been contacted by multiple people (thank you!) who have confirmed the update has hit their devices this afternoon. While the update won’t bring you Sense 4.0 like that seen on the HTC One X and [...]

Cyanogenmod 9 nightlies come to HTC Sensation and Sensation 4G on T-Mobile

Sensation users of all sorts on T-Mobile will be happy to know that they’ll now be able to get in on all the CM9 nightly fun. The project, which has been in development since the moment Google pushed Android 4.0 source code to the AOSP, have been hard at work on nightlies for the Galaxy line, various Samsung phones, the ASUS Transformer line, the Galaxy Tab line, and more since earlier this month.

The project as a whole is taking them a lot longer than they initially thought. An original hopeful launch window of February and March have been in the rear view mirror for quite some time, but it’s hard to complain when they’re doing this for free and for fun (unless, of course, you count the donations they receive). In any case, Sensation users can see what’s in store for them by going to this link. [via Android Police]

HTC Sensation users on Cincinnati Bell receive Ice Cream Sandwich

Don’t look now, T-Mobile users, but HTC Sensation owners on Cincinnati Bell are getting a little treat starting today. The regional carriers has announced that an upgrade to Android 4.0 is available starting today. It’ll be an over-the-air process that’ll last a week, so be sure to apply the update through the settings menu or head to a store to get help applying it.

The version of Sense will be stepped up to 3.6. T-Mobile users have been awaiting the upgrade for quite some time. Users anticipated being able to get it weeks ago, but a series of delays blew those hopes into smithereens. We’re sure Magenta faithful will be banging on the doors of T-Mobile after they’re forced to look on in jealousy. As for you Cincinnati Bell customers, enjoy! [via Facebook, thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

HTC Sensation getting ICS on Cincinnati Bell

I have good news for HTC Sensation owners that are on Cincinnati Bell, and more bad news for those with a T-Mobile Sensation. Today Cincinnati Bell and HTC have started the official rollout for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense UI 3.6 for the device, and sadly T-Mobile’s is still delayed.

Its been nearly a month since T-Mobile delayed their Sensation update, but this could be a sign things are almost on track and that we can expect the update to rollout shortly. Cincinnati Bell announced the update earlier today via Facebook, stating that it will start today and should hit all phones by April 30th.

As usual Bell Sensation users can wait and accept the update, or manually go into settings and check for updates to get started right away. The update will bring you to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and should give you tons of enhancements and new features. The update isn’t a requirement, but is highly recommended by us, and HTC of course. Feel free to check for updates now and leave us a comment below should you have any issues.

Sorry that you’re still last on the list T-Mobile. Hopefully your update will follow shortly.

T-Mobile delays HTC Sensation 4G ICS upgrade

We have some good and bad news this week for owners of the HTC Sensation 4G here on T-Mobile‘s HSPA+ network. While we’ve heard plenty of good news from both HTC, and T-Mobile regarding updates to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the device, today we’ve learned that T-Mobile had to delay the Sensation’s update.

Just yesterday T-Mobile posted the update details and instructions to their forum, then later last night over on Facebook either T-Mobile or a sales rep posted some pretty detailed information regarding the update process, and that it had been sent back to HTC for some fixes. What this means it it could possibly be another 4-6 weeks before we see ICS for the HTC Sensation 4G officially. With HTC rolling out updates to multiple AT&T phones that were cleared and pushed out, this shows they are ready to continue with the rest of the devices as long as they don’t have similar issues.

I did mention good news above, so what is the good news? Popular developers CyanogenMod have opened up their sources and are officially building nightly ROM’s of CM9 Android 4.0.4 ICS for the Sensation, and users should get that if they’d like some stock Android or don’t want to wait for HTC and T-Mobile. This means users can compile Android 4.0 ICS for the Sensation with CM9 if they’d like, or get many of the custom ROM’s available from RootzWiki or XDA.

Until we hear more from T-Mobile, or see another leak users will have to wait another month or so for something to officially roll out to the Sensation 4G. In the meantime try some CM9 and let us know what you think. I’d start here for ROM’s.

Android 4.0 update now rolling out to HTC Sensations on Vodafone UK

Vodafone users in the UK should receive a sweet update on their HTC Sensation devices today. According to Eurodroid, Vodafone is currently rolling out the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Sensation.

Vodafone UK sent out the following message to let its users know of the update, which is scheduled to begin today:

Great news. The testing of the ICS update for HTC Sensation is complete, and we plan to start rolling out the update tomorrow, 29th March.

The update will be rolled out in phases by the Over The Air service, so if yours doesn’t appear right away, you can either wait for it to appear, or go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check now.

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when Vodafone users will receive the ICS update for the Galaxy S II.

If you’re a Vodafone user with an HTC Sensation, let us know if you receive the ICS update.

HTC Sensation Smartphone For Vodafone Receives Coveted Android 4.0 Update

Today is a joyous day for owners of the UK version of the HTC Sensation smartphone. We know HTC pledged to unleash the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the device, but it was uncertain of when each device would actually receive the update. HTC Sensation smartphones operating under Vodafone UK’s mobile network has gradually begun receiving the Android 4.0 update. Here’s Vodafone’s comments on the exciting update:

“Great news. The testing of the ICS update for HTC Sensation is complete, and we plan to start rolling out the update tomorrow, 29th March.

The update will be rolled out in phases by the Over The Air service, so if yours doesn’t appear right away, you can either wait for it to appear, or go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check now.”

Those of you on the device will now have an added lease on life, thanks to ICS and of course Diet Sense-4.0. Guess that means you guys can stick it to your Samsung Galaxy S II bretheren, right?

Vodafone UK pushing Ice Cream Sandwich update to HTC Sensation

The HTC Sensation is getting more Ice Cream Sandwich love. With the update to Android 4.0 already live in some regions, the UK’s Vodafone has completed testing of the update, which should now be pushing to all devices. The rollout will be staggered, so users may be waiting a minute before seeing the new software pulled to their handset. Vodafone suggests the “Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check now” trick for the impatient.

I guess we can now say that the move to Ice Cream Sandwich has begun in earnest. It’s not happening as quickly as we had hoped, but with more devices getting the green light each day Android 4.0′s place in the distribution chart should be growing.

CM9 Source Code Officially Available For The HTC Sensation Smartphone

Exciting news today for HTC Sensation owners. HTC recently highlighted it will be bringing Android 4.0 to the device at some point this year, but many of you may not even want to wait that long or even bother with ICS featuring the latest Sense topping. That’s why the fine CyanogenMod team has made the coveted CM9 open source officially available for both the Pyramid and MSM8660 versions of the Sensation smartphone. While there’s no officially release for the Sensation smartphone just yet, the fact the source is now available means the top dog developer is working diligently on the CM9 code for the device and ultimately means there will be an alternative ICS version hitting the Sensation in the (very) near future.

Developers, rejoice! HTC has released the Ice Cream Sandwich kernel source for a few of their phones. The HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, and the HTC Vivid are all getting treatment today. Kernel source code helps developers make custom ROMs and you can bet developers will be hard at work whipping up some Ice Cream flavored goods before too long. If you fit the bill of the type of person who will need these files, get to HTCDev.com for the downloads. [via Android Police]
