Get the Original Samsung Galaxy Tab from K-Mart for $99

With the likes of the Toshiba Thrive, the Motorola Xoom, and the new Galaxy 10.1 being out and about, it’s easy to forget Samsung’s original Galaxy Tab tablet, despite its somewhat recent update to Gingerbread. Still, for those looking to get a pretty good tablet on the cheap, you can’t do much better than K-Mart’s deal: the aforementioned Galaxy Tab for a mere $99. Even better, there’s no mail-in rebate. Naturally this offer comes with the usual caveats of a two year contract and monthly service, but these are pretty minor and that cellular service can be quite handy, even without the 4geez. Anyone planning cashing in on this deal? Let us know in the comments!

HTC Puccini To Be Unveiled September 1st?

This image has no alt text

Apparently, HTC has been busy sending out invitations for a big September 1st event but is remaining tight lipped on exactly what will be unveiled. According to those that have received an invite (we’re still waiting on ours) no device was mentioned. Seeing how HTC has yet to release a Honeycomb tablet this is leading many to assume this event could be centered around the launch of HTC’s first 10-inch tablet, the HTC Puccini, that’s been leaked all around the net lately. The device was originally rumored for a mid August launch but again, those were only rumors. Has anyone been holding out or excited to get their hands on this particular Honeycomb tablet?

T-Mobile LG G-Slate Android 3.1 Update Rolling out Today

We haven’t heard much from LG and their G-Slate since it was launched back in April but the 8.9″ 3D capable device is still chugging along. In case users and owners were wondering about future upgrades I’m happy to report that the LG G-Slate should start seeing the OTA update to Android 3.1 Honeycomb today, or early tomorrow. Basically I’d just start hitting “check for updates” right now if I owned one.

For such an awesome device it hasn’t been seen in the news as of late. The G-Slate is a 8.9″ NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core tablet with dual cameras on the rear for 3D. I guess the complaint is the 3D requires glasses for viewing on the device unless the recently seen LG Optimus 3D. We were able to get plenty hands-on time with the G-slate so check out our full review.

Back to the update, clearly stated above in yellow the G-Slate should start seeing this any time now but we’ve yet to hear any reports of users actually receiving the update. According to the LG Forums it will be today or sometime tomorrow so I guess we will have to wait and see. Now my first question would be when will it get the Android 3.2 update that brings zoom and a few other helpful features? As many tablets already have been updated to that like a few weeks ago. The G-Slate is a little behind the times but hopefully gets caught up soon.

Android 3.1 Update Expected to Commence ‘Today or Tomorrow’ for LG G-Slate

This image has no alt text

Though it was one of the first Honeycomb tablets to hit the streets, the LG G-Slate (otherwise known as the LG Optimus Pad) has fallen to the wayside in light of other heavy hitters and competitively priced options. It doesn’t mean the 8.9-inch slate has been forgotten, however. In a posting to LG’s forums a moderator has announced that the update to Android 3.1 will begin rolling out either today (8/8) or tomorrow (8/9). As of right now, the new version of Android hasn’t been pushed, but it is expected to fix many of the bugs pestering G-Slate owners in addition to providing enhancements standard with the new (but not newest) OS version.

LG Flip II Dual-screen Android Phone Spotted Again

Recently a few more pictures have leaked out for the LG Flip II or so we are calling it. This is a dual-screen slider headed to T-Mobile by LG that not only has dual screens but also a hardware keyboard. It’s a different take on design that is for sure, but I could see developers cooking up some cool and unique features for that extra screen real estate.

While many are mentioning this device for the first time we got wind of it (and better pictures) back in June and you can see those here. While we still don’t have many details about the phone the picture above and below reveals plenty about the device. The QWERTY keyboard looks nice at decently spaced given the lack of room with that screen down below.

Looking at that last image it may be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but we don’t know for sure, and have a 3.5″ display with what looks like a 1 or 1.5″ display for the other. I sort of like the idea of having my most used applications neatly on the screen below, or maybe some other crazy cool uses once developers get cracking with the extra screen space. The LG Flip II is still a mystery so until we hear more you’ll have to just enjoy the photos.

HTC Ruby To Be Hitting T-Mobile soon?

Rumor and speculation are nothing new in the wireless industry, especially when it comes to phone launches. T-Mobile is no exception to this model, and the latest scoop revolves around Ms. HTC Ruby and Mr. Blurry Cam. The photo above is the latest of the candid shots involving the Ruby, and the carrier label in the upper right hand corner of the device leaves little doubt as to which wireless home it’ll be bunking down in. Curiously, the device doesn’t carry the Genius button intrinsic to most recent HTC T-Mobile phones, so perhaps it’ll be aimed at a more business-centric clientele. Of course, we’ll know more as either information is leaked or the device is officially announced. Care to do a bit of guessing as to the specs of this newbie? Feel free in the comments below!
